French cyclist Eugène Christophe, born in Paris in 1885, is credited with inventing the original toe-clip. In 1925, he sold his design to Poutrait-Morin (now Zéfal), where he later became a director. Today, Zéfal continues to produce these iconic Christophe toe-clips in chrome-plated steel, known for their durability and timeless design.
